Shoveling Snow

Well, we may be doing a lot of this tomorrow if the weather forecasters are right.  Not looking forward to it.  And I always worry about Donald, Adam and Meghan driving in the snow and rain.   I've been blessed to be able to stay home and not have to go out into this mess.....oops, but I'm remembering just now that I have one more day before the emissions testing on my car expires.  Drats!!  That means I have to go to the emissions place.  *shaking my head*  I need to start getting things done when I'm thinking about them.

I took my car in for service last Thursday.  That car sucked up $590.00 of my money! LOL  Unreal.  I don't know how people afford service on their cars.  Seriously.  For 35 years my husband has taken care of the maintenance on our vehicles when needed because we didn't have extra money to spend on the cars.  So when I bought my Hyundai two years ago I decided that it was easier to take it into the dealership for service and give Donald a break from worrying and working on the car.  Especially in the weather; there would be times he'd be out in the snow or rain under the car and I would feel so bad for him.  So taking my car in  for service is a break for him, but boy, he has to work overtime sometimes to pay for it.  Crazy.

Little by little and step by small step I have been cleaning up around here.  Donald sometimes complains that he 'just took the trash out' and it's filled up again.  I told him to be proud of a filled up trash can.  That means I'm cleaning and getting rid of stuff we don't need.  And it really feels good too, to walk into a room and see it organized and cleaned.  The dumb thing is is that I forget to take pictures of the before and then when I'm done and look at what my hard work has accomplished I think to myself, 'I should have taken a before picture'.  Duh!  Story of my life!

I so can't wait for spring, I so can't wait for spring!  Winter is just so 'live in the cave' kind of thing.  It's okay for a couple of days, but I would love to be planting a garden and smelling fresh cut grass and sitting outside.

April is my birthday so I look forward to that because spring is right around the corner.  My mom said that when she brought me home from the hospital it was snowing.  Maybe that's why I don't like the snow, per se.  :)

Blessings!

Snow...oh Why?

winter Even though in the last week or so the weather reports have called for snow, I hoped it wouldn't happen, which, it didn't.  Hehehe.  But, oh no, it couldn't hold off any longer.  I looked out the window this evening and little snowflakes were falling.  Boo!  Now, the flakes are thicker and coming down harder.  Oh, and it's sticking to the ground.

On the same note, my birthday is coming up on April 3rd.  When my mom would tell me about bringing me home from the hospital {after my birth} she said it was snowing.  That was in Washington, Pennsylvania.  So, I never really believe in nice weather until after April 3rd.  After that, I wanna see sunshine, sweater weather or t-shirt weather.  Oh yeah.

I've been doing a little cleaning.  I took a bunch of books to a place that sells books for charity.  Two things are hard for me to get rid of:  books and craft supplies.  I don't know why.  I guess because when I was younger, much younger, those two things gave me joy.  I spent a lot of time at the library reading and doing homework.  It was quiet and a place to go to learn about all kinds of stuff.  The crafts were always fun to do; to be creative.  How you can take something plain and turn it into something pretty or useful is so neat!  But seeing how my closet is getting empty is a good feeling, a burden that is being released.

Next week will be Easter, so I'll have to get my menu ready.  I'm probably going to make potato salad and have a ham.

Blessings,
BeKay

Another Book Haul, DH, the Dog and snow

DH and I went on another book haul.  There is a organization that sells books to help children in other countries and a couple of times a month they open their warehouse and sell their donated books.  However, I guess they get so many of certain types of books they have carts of free books and that's what these are <-------------; all recipes books.  I got all these books for free!!  I can't wait to go through them and pick out some different ideas and recipes for dinner.  I want to span my horizons! :)
These are books we paid for, but they were only a $1 a piece.  While I was looking through the craft books a women with two daughters stood next to me and said, 'oh look, here is the book that is on mommy's list.'  I thought, wow, this lady must be really organized to make a list of books she is looking for.  I don't believe I was ever that organized, but maybe if I had been things would have been easier.  Who knows?  There are two things I really enjoy:  1)  going to book sales and 2)  shopping at crafts stores.  But since my crafts room is so packed I can hardly get in it, I have given up on craft stores.  I've decided I needed to weed out the stuff I have now and will go back to crafts only and after my crafts room is to the point I am organized and can actually work in it again.

Now, about a week ago, when it had snowed, dh was going outside (at night) and when he opened the door the beagle dog bolted out.  If anybody has ever owned a beagle then you know these dogs are notorious for bolting out the door.  And once their nose is on the ground there is no stopping them.  And they aren't too street smart either.  So out she goes running, running, running and it didn't matter how much we yelled or screamed for her, she just thought it was a game.  My neighbors, who were going out to eat, got out of their car to come help catch our dog.  She would run in circles around us and we couldn't catch her.  The only way we got her was by our neighbor getting her dog.  When our dog came over to her dog, my neighbor jumped on our beagle and end of story.  Until last night when dh was putting the leash on beagle and two seconds later he yells in the house that the dog got loose.  Ahhh, now how did that happen again?  I was mad the first time, but I was doubly mad again.  We live on a highway and we've had quite a few pets die on that road and I just didn't want it to happen again.  But we could not catch the dog.  And it was snowing hard last night, too.  I just hoped the dog would not run to the road and that she would tire out and come back home.  I went to bed.  A couple of hours later I got up to look outside and she was on the porch with her tail between her legs.  I guess she realized when I turned off the outside lights and it was dark, wet and cold she didn't think it was fun anymore.  However, she was minus one $20 bling dog tag.  Still can't figure out how that would have come off her collar.

Dh says we are never getting another hound dog again (this is our second) and I told him, I don't plan on being alive in another 15 years so it doesn't make a difference to me.  (We don't live so long on my mother's side.)

And we are thankful our electricity didn't go off last night.  Usually if it rains around here our electricity goes off.  We had a snowstorm last night and the lights were blinking off and on, but we didn't lose our lights/heat.  Yeah!  I cooked a chicken yesterday, so we can eat for the next few days.
